Glen serves as Winterfeldt IP Group’s Senior IP Policy Manager. Her prior work includes over 25 years of experience on Internet matters, particularly in connection with developing and supporting ICANN’s GNSO.
Glen de Saint Géry serves as Senior IP Policy Manager for Winterfeldt IP Group. She comes to the group with 25 years of experience in Internet Domain Name System (DNS) matters, including an instrumental role in developing/structuring the Domain Name Supporting Organization that is now the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) of the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
Glen, who is based in France but lends support to all of Winterfeldt IP Group’s offices, is South African born and educated and hails from a multi-cultural and very diverse background. Prior to devoting her career to Internet matters, Glen worked as a social science researcher as well as a lecturer in Social Work at the Cape, then at the School of Social Work in Nice, France. In her social work career, Glen was also responsible for developing a variety of community programs, including one which designed a unique service to help disabled people and their families from Holland and Belgium to have camping holidays in the South of France. She has also worked as an English teacher, and as an interpreter for a French company.
Glen’s extensive Internet experience began in a role as an interpreter for a French company at the time of the Green and White paper discussions which preceded the formation of ICANN. From there she became the part-owner of a web hosting company, associate of a French Registrar, and ultimately Secretary to the Domain Name Supporting Organization that is now the GNSO.
Glen was the Secretary to the GNSO for over 15 years, and helped develop and managed the Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees Support Team. She has a thorough understanding of the inner workings of ICANN, as well as extensive familiarity with the policies and best practices that have shaped the GNSO.
Glen is responsible for helping with paralegal and executive support functions such assistance with the team’s ICANN policy and engagement matters, travel, conference and event planning, marketing, and diversity-related activities. Glen brings with her strong organizational skills large-scale events and office management, as well as the ability to work seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders of all seniority levels.
Glen speaks 5 languages fluently, (Afrikaans, Dutch, English, French, German), and also has a good knowledge of Xhosa. She offers particular expertise in the nuances of European cultural and business practices, thus lending extensive support to Winterfeldt IP Group’s international clients and industry activities.
